In view of a recent financial Short Message Service (SMS) phishing scam, it is highly recommended for all Lim & Tan Securities (LTS) clients to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on their accounts to confirm their login.

Why enable 2FA?
2FA is an extra layer of security used to make sure that users trying to gain access to their accounts are who they say they are. If your login ID and password is obtained by hackers, without 2FA approval they will not be able to gain access to your account even if your password is known. LTS clients can opt to enable either SMS One-Time Password (OTP) or LTS Soft Token OTP for login confirmation.

Why choose LTS Soft Token OTP?
SMS are sent to the recipients in plain text and can be intercepted by hackers with little effort, any hackers that manage to intercept or get access to the SMS can clearly read the OTP. LTS Soft Token uses software-generated time-based one-time passcode. The passcode is generated and displayed on the same mobile device, thus removing the chance of hacker interception, thus reducing the risk of having your OTP intercepted by those who have ill intentions.
